I have been listening to opera since I was a child. I own hundreds of recordings of the best interpretations. I am a frequent visitor to Europe's leading opera houses, and I treat the Royal Opera House like home.
My life's passion is opera. From primary school, I explored the works of Italian opera composers, then others. Some say that opera is the most perfect culmination of all the arts. I agree with this statement with one caveat: opera is delightful when performed at the highest level.
Opera trips are my answer to the need for team-building trips. Combining such an outing with trust-building work within a group of company leaders creates a whole new dynamic and situational context. It makes people who have worked together for a long time engage in conversations about new topics. Through new experiences, being exposed to magnificent music in the lavish interiors of leading opera theatres, new impulses are activated, positive energy increases and the desire to experience things together intensifies. Just being in these cities "together but apart" is a refreshing dose of positive energy.
"The opera ends long after the curtain falls."
Maria Callas
I would like to propose an opera trip as an extension of the 'Creative Leadership' workshop or as a completely separate initiative. We usually organise such a trip on a weekend several months in advance, as it is not easy to buy several tickets for a good performance. We usually go to Milan's La Scala, the Paris Opera House and, of course, London's Royal Opera House, but any of the good opera houses are possible, i.e., Barcelona, Venice, Rome, Naples, Bergamo, Beyrouth, Vienna... Before the trip, I conduct a workshop on the work we are going to see, we listen to excerpts of the best performances, we watch iconic films or stage productions, and we discuss.
